Moon Foundry
Can You Fuse a Pebble Into a Dragon in Moonfall?
You can try. In the Moon Foundry, every card you discover can be fused again. Here is how a chain of fusions works, and why no path is set.
You can try, and that is the point. In the Moon Foundry, any card you discover can go into the next fusion, so a chain can start with Pebble Sprite, one of the humblest cards in the game, and climb from there. No recipe list leads to a dragon: each result is designed the first time anyone fuses that pair, so your path depends on the cards you choose and on what other players discovered before you.
Chaining fusions
- Fuse two of your creature cards. If the pair is new, the game designs a card for it, and you pick its painting from four.
- The new card is a creature like any other, so it can be one half of the next fusion.
- Repeat. Every step is a new recipe, and every result stays in your collection.
How the designer reads a pair
The AI card designer does not add two cards together. It looks for the idea that sits between them and gives the result one clear ability; when a pair already evokes a well-known idea, it may name it outright. A pebble with fire suggests something different from a pebble with a storm, so the second card you choose steers the chain.
Steering a chain
- Add one idea at a time. Heat, then wings, then size: each fusion gives the designer one new thing to work with.
- Expect the cost to follow the card. The designer sets a new card's mana cost to fit what it is, not what its parents cost.
- Branch from your best steps. Every card you discover stays in your collection, so you can go back to any of them and try a different partner.
What a chain costs
Each new recipe costs Stardust; the Moon Foundry shows the current price before you fuse, 50 Stardust at the time of writing. So a chain of four new pairs costs four discoveries. If someone else discovered a step before you, you still pay to learn it, and you get their card.
Why no path is set
The first fusion of a pair decides its result for everyone. If another player fused your pair first, you get their card, which may send your chain somewhere else. And since new cards are written and painted by AI, no one knows a result before the pair is fused for the first time. AI output can still be imperfect.
